Energy Management Services
We offer a variety of free programs to help our customers use their energy wisely. Many of these programs are offered through the Tennessee Valley Authority.
• Lighting: Ripley Power and Light can make recommendations for the design of lighting systems in such places as sports fields, roadways, parking lots, and commercial and industrial plants.
• HVAC: Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning studies examine the sizing of HVAC equipment, offer heating-and-cooling-system comparisons, investigate problems with existing systems, and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Metering: Temporary metering equipment can be installed to gather data on facility electrical usage.
• Wiring and Electrical Distribution Equipment: A facility’s distribution systems can be analyzed, including the sizing of wiring and equipment, to provide recommendations for system improvement.
• Energy Audits: Energy audits survey the energy use in a customer’s facility that includes recommendations regarding energy management opportunities, processes, and facility improvements.
• Food Services: Food services clients can have food storage, preparation and cooking methods examined with recommendations on equipment selection, area design, proper ventilation, and heat reclaim.
• Power Quality: Power quality studies analyze voltage problems originating inside or outside the facility that adversely affect the end-user.
• Process Recommendations: Process recommendations examine the procedures for producing a product, such as materials handling, shipping, receiving, product flow, and energy utilization.
• Power Factor: Power factor metering analyzes and makes recommendations to correct low power factor.
• Grounding/Lightning: Grounding and lightning issues can be analyzed with grounding studies and testing that result in lightning protection recommendations.
• Infrared Scans: Infrared scans of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, bus and conductor connections can identify hot spots, as well as scans for facility heating-and-cooling loss.
• Expansions: Assistance in planning for facility expansions, including rates and services are available.
• Demand-Side Management: We offer help in monitoring and testing of electrical systems as well as recommendations related to managing peak electrical demand.
• Water Heating: Studies evaluate heat-pump water-heater applications, standard energy-efficient water heaters, and cost comparison analysis of electric versus fossil-fuel systems.
• Special Projects: Special end-use projects can be performed to meet any specific and unique needs of our commercial and industrial customers.
• Ultrasonic Testing: Ultrasonic testing locates leaks in water, steam, air and vacuum systems.
• Enhanced Growth Credit: The Enhanced Growth Credit Program is available as an economic development incentive. It provides credit on power bills to qualifying companies that locate or expand in the Ripley Power and Light service area. More information.
