About Us
At Ripley Power and Light, we are proud to be your hometown utility provider. We are a public utility owned by you, our customers. As a local utility, we can respond more quickly to your needs.
- Our mission is to provide the best possible service at the lowest possible cost. Unlike a private company, we can focus on serving only the needs of our customers. We do not try to make a profit to provide dividends to stockholders.
- As a municipal utility, our daily operations and our capital improvements are funded through our revenues. We do not use tax dollars. In fact, we give the city and county about several hundred thousand dollars each year in lieu of tax payments.
- Ripley Power and Light is governed by a Board of Directors. Members are appointed by the City Council. The Power and Light Board generally meets at 12:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. (Meeting times are subject to change.) Meet our Board.
